Come with us to discover the great HUICHOLES who are the Aztecs legacy in the 21st century.
Travel north of Nayarit state with beautiful sights of typical little towns. The thickness and greenness of the tropical jungle will amaze you as you travel along the route. The first stop will be made at "Rincon de Guayabitos" for breakfast.
Then we will continue driving towards "Tepic" the capital of the state. Heading a bit north-east up a mountain (3,000 feet above the sea level) you'll be surprised with beautiful and colorful nature scenes. Next we go on our way to the historic & majestic city of "Compostela". We will visit the church of "Cristo de Misericordia" and the regional museum of anthropology.
Passing by "Puga" (Sugar factory) we will head to the Indian community called "Nueva Valley"; populated by 130 natives who will gladly welcome us with a traditional cleaning ceremony done by the high ranked member of the Huichol community "Marakame". They will let us in their 'Cali-Huey' (Temple) and present their splendid music and dance. Photography is allowed. This is an excellent opportunity to buy authentic Huichol Handcrafts.
Last we will head off to our amazing three-course meal before going back to Puerto Vallarta..
